Sorry folks, it now doesn’t look like we have enough to hold this session. We will only just be able to get the Gig up the beach with 6 and if we have injuries it is practically 4 people lifting and moving the Gig which is not safe or feasible. We will have to wait until tomorrow.
Thanks for putting your names down though.
Hi Folks, Sessions is going ahead but with a slight change of plan.
With the Power boat club using the ‘Duckpond’ area next to the big slipway, I am reluctant to launch there with Rodney as there will be trailers and vans everywhere and power boats in the way. In order to get 1 good session, lets meet at Avocet and use the plastic Gig at 18:15. On the water by 18:30. Crew as follows:
Cox: Ben
6 Nic
5 Gary
4 Greg
3 Jannie
2 Sarah
1 Phil
(providing Karen is sure she wants to drop out)
I was hoping to get Rodney wet, but trailer storage during the session is not straightforward now that we can’t launch from the Rec ground slipway.
Cheers
Ben
Thanks folks, I will collect Rodney from the Farm on the way home from work and tow to the Recreation Ground Slipway, (Just across from Exmouth Sport Centre and Rugby club, where the Festival was). This area has pay and display parking close by to the slipway and somewhere free to leave the trailer during the session.
The idea of this session is to get Rodney out on the water to keep the Gig from drying out too much. There may well be a bit of leakage still, but we will be in the safe shallow water of the Duckpond area. Please put your names down by 9am Wednesday and I will put up a crew list shortly after. Please be available for the start and end of the session to help lift the Gig. Thanks. Ben
Hi Folks,
The race starts at 10:30 after launching the Gig at 10am. Can we have a handful of members at Gulliford farm for 8am to meet me to collect the Gig please? We should arrive approx 09:15 all being well. I can give a lift to a couple of people if anyone needs it. The racing will be mixed crew format and I will put together a crew. We will need to borrow 1 rower from Burnham and some of their crew will be on hand to help unload the Gig.

Hi Folks, We will be receiving further details on timings tomorrow from Burnham on Sea gig club, which I can post on here for those attending. I would expect they are wanting to hit high tide for a couple of hours, around mid morning. I would expect we would want to leave Exmouth around 8am with the Gig and arrive approx 09:15 at Burnham on Sea beach sailing club.
It will be mix and match teams by the sounds of it, so should give everyone a chance to mix with different boats/crews.

Wow wow and more wow!! This shows the power of this year’s joined up approach and all your hard work towards winning this bid! Everyone who voted and asked friends to vote should be very proud!! Really really well done!!
We had a tentative peek at the internet last week and shared a quiet celebration on our honeymoon, followed by a much bigger woop woop after receiving Max’s phone call on Wednesday with the good news! Amazing achievement and a piece of history in the making for the club and Exmouth. Cheers all. Look forward to toasting the great news when we are home. X x Ben and Carrie (and bump)
I am available to Tow the gig and Cox but won’t be rowing yet. Will be back in the Gig soon for my recovery row. See you all soon.
Just arrived back from Honeymoon and going thru my emails /messages etc. I can tow and Cox at this event if we are attending. Will pop back up on here tomorrow to confirm state of play. X
Yes Sophie, France well and truly still in! Your money looks safe I reckon.. not sure Portugal will be able to beat the french team
Had a recent push on facebook yesterday and got 13 confirmed votes, including a few work people in 1 day. I have just sent it out to our Sport and Social Club at work to circulate via their email bulletin..
Good luck to all of you competing tomorrow at Bridport!! Hope it goes well and we may be along to cheer you on at some point during the day. Enjoy and row hard!! Ben and Carrie x
Just wanted so say a big thank you to all those who helped out with the festival and planning our attendance at the festival. It was great to have a presence there amongst such a good atmosphere. We have already had a number of enquiries from new rowers who you spoke to you down at our stall. Thank you.

Camperdown Regatta. This Friday evening
Hi folks,
The Camperdown Fun Regatta is on this Friday evening at high tide, in the Camperdown Gut (next to the Imperial Recreation ground). We attended 2 years ago for a spot of fun, novelty boat races and fancy dress. We were loaned on a small 4 person rowing boat (or Seine boat) from the Sea Scouts to play around in. The regatta’s theme is ‘Royal’. Friday 3rd June from 1630 onwards (HW 1803 BST 3.8 m). If the weather is awful, it’ll be postponed to the following day from 1 hour later.
Prize for best fancy dress reflecting the ‘Royal’ occasion!
I am unable to row or Cox I am afraid, but I may pop down for a beer. Those keen can head to the pub afterwards for a chinwag and a pint
If anyone if keen to attend this for social or for rowing, put your name down below:
Hi Janine, I am heading down to meet Gary and set up around 10am, but don’t rush down as not much will happen until 11 when it gets busier. Come down at 11. Lovely day for the festival! Ben
Hi all fellas, I am planning a smaller, more local version of my Stag Do for several mates/family who cannot make the ‘away’ leg of my stag weekend, it consists of the following and all Gig Club guys are welcome:
Cycle up to Pig and Pallet in Topsham on Sat 2nd July at for 2pm, a spot of lunch, then head back down the path to Lympstone Swan beer festival in the afternoon. Not having a late one as have Bridport regatta the next day. A relaxed afternoon and a few beers the order of the day! Respond on here if you want to eat at Topsham and I will book a table. If not, just meet us along the way at Lympstone. I have also invited a few non gig rowing mates, (or ‘land-lubbers’ as I like to call them, still to be converted)..
Ben
