Great response! Thanks folks. I reckon we could gain a few new members from this. It started with a few people at work saying they were interested, but they needed a nudge and a session planned out for them. I will post another comment nearer the time, to firm up exact timings and who’s in which boat etc.
    Regards
    Ben

Just had a thought.. I recall from footage of Weymouth a few years back that they created a square shaped course with all 3 turns on the starboard side (as in Buoys on the stroke side, with bow side doing the pulling round the marks). It may of course have changed since then, but might be worth bearing in mind.. 🙂

That’s an epic spot by the sounds of it Polly. (possible training camp location one day, with your own access to the sea from their land!?). I can chat through towing licence info, as there are quite a few commonly held myths about licence types and towing. However Cathryn’s offer sounds good with Lewis’ Dad being willing. I would go for that. House move date not yet confirmed, but I am still going to need the Weymouth weekend to get some of our house packed up, with regattas following in the first 2 weekends in June.

Similarly if you can get to Topsham or turf locks in time, you could grab a row back with them. they should be at Topsham until 3ish, hen turf until 5 this evening. (The other gig departs turf at approx 8am tomorrow as they are camping there.)

Could I ask for a couple of volunteers to come and help Clevedon recover their Gigs. The first one at approx 6pm today at Belshers slipway and the second one coming back tomorrow about 09:30 at Belshers slipway. They will be towing back with 5 in each gig as they had a couple of rowers drop out. Some help lifting the gigs would be appreciated and shouldn’t take long. Once on their trailers you can head off. Thanks. Ben (message me on 07910 625459 if able to help)

Provisionally I will say yes to this one, but depends on our house move date. With that in mind, I would be happy to fit in any crew, any position last minute if I am able to attend. (I should know soon, so will update on here when I have a move date).

30-40 mins may be a bit optimistic Tanya Netherway 🙂 Especially after a burger and a pint..
If we don’t quite have enough for out/return journey, I think Clevedon could provide a spare person by the sounds of it.

Meet at Shelly Maid, At the Sea Cadets yard to prepare boat. All of the kit is in Shelly, including new oars, so it will be easier all round and good practice in the new Gig. I will arrive pretty much bang on 17:30 due to work. Cheers. Ben
