Searching for some basic fitness equipment such as the following:
Kettle Bells (from 4 up to 10kg)
Dumbells (from 5kg upwards)
Resistance bands/physio bands
Yoga matts/floor matts
Looking to do some fitness sessions during the winter and keeping my eye out for cheap, easy to store equipment, sourced a few bits on Gumtree so far. Has anyone got any of the above items hiding in their cupboards? (dust them off and give me a shout)
Sorry folks, but the forecast for tomorrow is not looking good so therefore I am going to cancel this event. I will look for alternative dates as it would be great to do this and welcome a few other clubs down.
Keep an eye out for a decision on whether this goes ahead on Sunday, as the wind forecast is looking dodgy for Sunday. I will try and get home and publish an update on here tomorrow mid afternoon after rowing either way.

The plan is as follows:
Meet and get Avocet out: 09:45
Assist other Gig Clubs by unloading Gigs at Belshers Slipway with our launch trolleys:10:00 – 10:30
Registration starts: 10:00
Draw names at random for Barbarians Racing (mixed crews):10:30 – 10:45
Racing starts: 11:00 (approx 2.5km straight course)
When rowers arrive, they need to register with a designated marshall (in yellow jacket by Belshers Slipway). Rower name goes into 1 of 2 buckets (Men’s and Ladies).
Names drawn at random from buckets (3 from Mens, 3 from ladies) and allocated a boat and race number. Names written down on board with approx race times. If we have odd numbers we will ask several people to race twice.
I will delegate a few tasks out to our rowers to help the day run smoothly as follows:
Phil & Sarah: Registration
Kathy, Jannie, Cathryn, Gary, Mark S, Vicky and Keith: Get Avocet down to the water and ready.
Greg and Matt: Direct visiting trailer drivers to Camperdown Council Car park after launch (or Recreation ground car park if space is tight) Visitors have been told its pay and display.
All other Exmouth Rowers: Assist visiting clubs by unloading Gigs.
More details will follow this week and visiting clubs will be updated.

Who’s coming along to the Shanty Singing night on Tuesday at The Beach Pub? It’s a school night but a good excuse for a few jars..
Watch this space though for a bit of local inter club racing towards end of October. Burnham on sea gig club coming down again and eager to test us on our home turf. Keep an eye on message board.

Really well done all! It was great to come down and see a real buzz on the beach at Sidmouth amongst our members. Fab to see Rodney in all the categories.
It sounds like the approx start time for the 4km race is 12.30, so that works well after the normal rowing sessions on Saturday. We just need a few more names now, 3 guys, 3 girls.
Burnham on Sea are attending so we have someone to race (beat) 🙂 They will be launching their gig around 10.30 at Belshers, so you will see them rowing around before the race.

When we have any novice sessions, feel free to chat to any new rowers about Scilly 2017 and give them an idea of what it consists of. Easy for them to think competing at Scilly is out of reach for new ‘ish rowers, but if they join now and get amongst it, we could have them rowing at the championships after some winter training.
As Greg said, we are happy to chat to people on the beach and answer questions about the Scilly’s for anyone who has not been and is thinking of going to this fantastic event. Keith’s Scilly guide will help regarding travel and accommodation options and timescales for getting stuff booked. Well worth the effort to get out there for an amazing experience 🙂
Boat Maintenance prior to Sidmouth regatta:
We need a handful of members to assist with a bit of maintenance on Rodney Bey up at the Farm tomorrow, to help ensure the Gig is ready for Sidmouth. George and his Dad have kindly offered their services to do a bit of work on Rodney, but will need a couple of extra hands to help. This will take place after rowing tomorrow (Sat 3rd).
We have a nice new boat coming, but need to keep Rodney in good condition for years to come.
Ben and Carrie planning to attend. Planning to just do the long weekend. No accommodation booked but likely to be camping this year to keep costs down (but likely to be on St Agnes, as Garrison campsite won’t accommodate a 6 month old Baby! which I have never heard before.)
