We are missing seeing all our rowing buddies so in lieu of being able to meet up for club rowing and training on the water, we thought it would be a great time to learn a bit more about this sport we love!

We would like to invite you to join us on Thursday 6th August at 8pm to 9pm to listen to some rowing chat and have a chance to ask questions followed by a general chit chat… GnT or a beer encouraged!

This first session will revolve around COXING. One of the most crucial aspects of our sport.

We will have 3-4 coxes talking about various aspects of being a coxswain, from training as a cox to training new rowers to coxing in the estuary and race coxing.

So if there is anything you would like to know (like what all those words they shout at us mean?!?) please head over to the message board and sign up and leave a question.
The link will be sent to those that sign up on the message board next Thursday by 8pm.

Our first speaker on Thursday will be the one and only Carrie Atkinson who is going to talk to us about what it’s like when you first become an Exmouth gig club cox and the challenges you face coxing in the estuary.

You may not have come across Carrie recently as she has been rather busy having babies and studying for a masters but Carrie and her husband Ben were the force behind setting up the club and I’m sure coxing in those early days was quite challenging! I’m certainly looking forward to hearing all about it.

Please sign up if you are about and feel free to post any questions you might have for Carrie.

Also speaking on Thursday will be the marvellous Sophie Cook who will talk about aspects of coxing brand new rowers, what she needs to look out for and what the experienced rowers can do to help.

I’m looking forward to hearing Sophie’s take on what the challenges and rewards of taking out newbies are. Pop your name down to find out more about our amazing sport.
