Following on from the RNLI openday in August and further building on our growing relationship with Exmouth RNLI some of our members were treated to an up close and personal visit to the Exmouth RNLI station.
The specially organised tour was a rare opportunity to have a look around the station and learn about the way the Institution operates.
There was also the chance to have a look at the Lifeboats themselves. The tour started with an overview of the “D” class Inshore Lifeboat before moving on to the brand new “Shannon” class Lifeboat and it’s custom designed launch and recovery system.
Some of the RNLI Volunteer crew were on hand to answer questions and to demonstrate some of the protective clothing used by the RNLI.
Our thanks go to Exmouth RNLI for allowing us this opportunity.
