The members of Exmouth Gig Club are delighted to mark this event with the naming and launch of their new “Plastic” training Gig Boat!

The boat, or Gig, is a replica of the wooden version, which is based on an 1838 design, and is made of GRP. It is a welcome boost to the club as the membership numbers have exceeded all expectations and will enable everyone to get out on the water at weekends and, soon, the evenings.

We shall be holding a number of fun races on the beach after the naming ceremony.

Exmouth Gig Club is open to anyone who wishes to try this exciting sport, at any level from social rowing to serious racing – Exmouth Gig Club shall be competing in the World Championships in The Isles of Scilly at the beginning of May!

So if you want to give it a try please come and meet some of the members on the 28th March. This timetable for the day is.

12:30: Blessing and naming of new GRP Gig.

12:45: First row of new Gig.
