Last weekend saw Exmouth Gig Club once again team up with Exmouth RNLI for their annual Lifeboat open day.
The one day event allowed local people and visitors to Exmouth the opportunity to look around the boathouse, go on board Exmouth’s new Shannon Class boat and also be introduced the sport of gig rowing.
Half of the funds raised by the gig club on the day will be donated to the RNLI and thanks to raffle donations from Liz Reynolds of Tesco, Exmouth and Jola Kawalek of Jolly Cakes, East Budleigh, Exmouth Gig Club were able to court passers-by to enter the draw and support both organisations.
Ben Atkinson, Chair of Exmouth Gig Club commented ‘Lifeboat day is a fantastic opportunity for the gig club to come along, raise funds not just for our club but also for the RNLI. We have the upmost respect for the role the RNLI play at sea and want to support them in any way we can’.
Exmouth gig club will be handing over a cheque for £141.00 to the RNLI in Exmouth in the coming days, watch this space for pictures of the presentation!
