CPGA BUSINESS STRATEGY INFORMATION

During this coming week, more information will be sent to club contacts.

Some clubs have been asking why the CPGA is considering introducing changes at a time when rowing is impossible, with people and clubs suffering the many impacts of the Covid pandemic. Please be assured that clubs will be fully consulted about how and when any changes will be introduced. Any proposals will be sensitive to the ongoing pandemic and timelines will be adjusted accordingly.

The new Sport England strategy has now been published. It is the hope of the CPGA that our sport will have a clear strategy to present to Sport England which will unlock investment into our clubs and communities.

POTENTIAL FIXTURE LIST 2021

As we have all seen, the fixture list has reached Version 5 already and we are only just entering the second week of February.

We are all hoping that some form of racing can take place this year but are also conscious that we need to make sure that all guidance / advice / covid secure measures are in place.

Many clubs are realising that an event, as we know it will not necessarily be taking place this year, certainly the early part of the racing season.

The CPGA are monitoring the situation and following potential new information / guidance after the 22nd February we will send an email to all.

COVID UPDATE

We have no idea about when we will be able to get back on the water, but please do revisit your risk assessments, update as needed and if there are any aspects that you know can be improved take this time and complete it. Remember to make sure your return to rowing is – Covid Ready / Secure.

Some key points to remember when rowing is possible, from the previous return to rowing, but there could be elements that need to be changed in the future.

  • Social distancing where possible
  • Masks on launch and recovery
  • No changing of crews/cox during a rowing session
  • No stopping to socialize / turning around during the row
  • Wearing of masks / face shields for coxes
  • Cleaning boat and equipment between rowing sessions and after use
  • Contact tracing in place (see Weekly Update 40 for QR codes / NHS tracing)
