As we are all aware Lockdown 2 restrictions end on the 2nd December 2020. From this date England returns to a tier system. The CPGA are aware that there are clubs in every tier.

To keep up to date with the latest advice from Sport England visit their website.

British Rowing have also updated their guidance – Managing Covid-19.

Depending on the tier your clubs is in will determine your actions.

As with the previous return to rowing, any rowing that does take place MUST be risk assessed, Covid protocols must be in place and accessible to all members, mitigation actions must be followed.
Some key points to remember:

  • Social distancing where possible
  • Masks on launch and recovery
  • No changing of crews/cox during a rowing session
  • Cleaning boat and equipment between rowing sessions and after use
  • Contact tracing in place (see Weekly Update 40 for QR codes / NHS tracing)

With any activity that takes place all – members rowing and non-rowing, and the general public must see that all is being done to limit any spread of Covid. Please remember that if you are using social media only publish compliant photos / videos and remember that there are others who will publish anything and even contact the CPGA if they see a club not following good practice.

Great to see many sign up to this and start to work through the online info and gain points which will ultimately convert to certification.

Sport England and CIMSPA have funded the commission of a new industry recognised ReActivate COVID-19 Awareness Award that we now have access to at the CPGA.

Made up of several different modules, the award is designed to ensure that people are suitably trained to deliver their roles in the safest possible way.

Whilst it is very unfortunate, we are having to hang up our oars for a second lockdown, this as an opportunity to make the most of the situation, learn, and get ready for our return in the future.

There are three option for the training, as listed in the ‘Access to free training’ section, the name of the training option might change, but we will let you know, the content will not change unless there is a update of information.

Many within clubs can benefit from completing this training and there is no limit to the number of people that a club can put through this training.

To access the free training:
1) Go to
2) Click ‘Not registered? Select a plan’
3) Select the plan that best fits your role/responsibilities at your club, there are the options of three
