U14 & U15 CHAMPIONSHIPS INVITE FROM HAYLE

Deadline for entries – Saturday 15th August via this link. You will be notified when your entry is complete.

To date the following have entered crews:

  • Bude
  • Cadgwith
  • Helford
  • St Mary’s IOS
  • Torpoint

This years’ event will take place as usual at Copperhouse Pool, Hayle, on Sunday 22nd August. The coxes meeting will be at 0930 hrs. and the first race will follow immediately afterwards.
As with other championship events, gigs will be provided hopefully with seats, but you will be required to provide your own oars, pins, lifejackets, and radios.

Please can clubs holding trophies from last year return them to Hayle Pilot Gig Club prior to the Championships.

A reminder that crews must be a genuine Under 14 crew and members of that club (current year 9 or below). Any composite crews must be declared. It may be possible to make up crews from any spare rowers on the day depending on numbers. However, any composite crews are not eligible to win the event or plate race but will have the opportunity to row twice.

Due to the cancellation of the under 14s in 2020 we are also hosting under 15 crews in a separate race, as above, crews must be a genuine under 15 crew (current year 10 or below)

Although covid restrictions have been lifted we would still ask people to be as covid secure as possible for everyone’s safety. We would request that everyone entering the event takes a lateral flow test either the morning before or the evening before if that is not possible.
We also ask people to distance themselves as much as possible and listen to any advice from the volunteers on the day.

There is no vehicular access to King Georges Memorial Walk on Sundays, this is a council directive, and we ask that your club help us support our local Town Council by respecting this. Oars can be dropped at the main carpark and carried the short distance to the walk. Details of parking will be forwarded to clubs once numbers are confirmed.

As in previous years refreshments will be on sale. The Riviera café and Hayle outdoor swimming pool are next to the venue. Both will be open and the café offers a variety of refreshments, ice creams and drinks.

FIXTURE LIST 2022

Looking forward in a positive manner.

2022 fixture list. Please use the link and complete the necessary information.

Deadline 14th September.

FIXTURE LIST 2021

The latest version of the fixture list was published last Sunday (1/8/21) this has now changed. We know that Newquay have made the decision to cancel for 2022.

It has been a difficult year for clubs who would normally host an event. An overriding concern for many clubs has been that they didn’t want to risk an event that might cause an infection spike in the local area that would then be detrimental to local businesses, with potential staff isolation / closure at the busiest time of the year for many locations. Additionally clubs have also responded to local councils / landowners comments.

Whilst we know that many are disappointed that most events have not taken place this year, for committees / clubs making the decision they have been made with the best intentions for all.
We will update with the latest fixture list asap.

COVID UPDATE

If you are travelling to a regatta, most are asking those attending to complete a lateral flow test either the day before or the morning of. If any member who is attending is showing any signs of Covid, please also refrain from attending.

Monday 19th July was the day that restrictions were lifted legally.

For CPGA clubs we offer the following guidance:

With cases of Covid still rising, we encourage clubs to maintain a covid secure protocol.

  • Wash / sanitize hands regularly
  • Do not row / visit your club / regatta if you or anyone in your household are showing signs of covid
  • Encourage individuals to take lateral flow tests (still free of charge) if they are not already for their work
  • Continue to monitor with a Club QR code or the clubs method of track and track, or continue with the NHS QR code
  • Respect the rules set by your club and help yourself, club members and public stay healthy
  • Follow rules set out by your club to keep equipment and facilities clean
  • Be kind to your club committee who are giving their time to ensure all are safe and rowing can take place

Social distancing no longer remains at 2 metres, but as a club you need to decide what you are happy with amongst members / as a committee.

Likewise, indoors, close contact when lifting gigs, confined spaces etc housing for a gig, clubs may wish to consider a policy regarding face coverings.

You may wish to set crews according to their wishes eg those that are double jabbed, age groups, those continuing to wear masks.
