FIXTURE LIST 2021 – LATEST INFO

A newer version of the fixture list will be published asap, but please be aware that there are changes being made all the time. The most recent change being the postponement of the Veterans Championships hosted by Brixham that was due to take place on the 31st July. The rescheduled date will be posted on the updated fixture list.

As clubs assess the pressure of running an event under COVID secure protocol several clubs have decided to cancel their events for 2021. These have been difficult decisions and we all need to respect committees / clubs who have decided not to go ahead.

Some clubs in response to local councils or landowners have had to make the decision to postpone or cancel to a date later in the year or out of school holidays. An overriding concern for many clubs is that they don’t want to risk an event that might cause an infection spike in the local area that would then be detrimental to local businesses, with potential staff isolation / closure at the busiest time of the year for many locations.

Some clubs have also rescheduled their events to later in the year due to the sheer number of visitors expected at their location throughout the summer months.

COVID UPDATE

With the number of COVID cases on the rise, please can we remind you of the information below. Do not become complacent and remember that even if you do not post of social media, there are many people generally watching.

All clubs should have a QR code that can be scanned by anyone who comes into contact with the club in any way.

You should also have a named person / COVID officer who is keeping information for track and trace purposes for 21 days.

General Rowing

Please remember to follow the guidance.

The guidance remains – clubs should keep the same crew rowing together wherever possible to minimise the number of different close interactions rowers will have with each other. whilst not termed ‘rowing bubbles’ the principle is the same.

To clarify a ‘stern loader’ is a boat where the cox is sat in the stern ie a gig. Therefore, a cox is required to wear both a face covering and eye protection (goggles / sunglasses or a face visor).

Any media needs to be positive and showing that all rowing is following covid protocols. Remember that there are many webcams and plenty of people with cameras who will publish photos. Make sure that anything that your club posts is showing the club is the best possible COVID secure way.

Please revisit your risk assessments regularly and update as needed.

Some key points to remember when rowing in COVID secure measures, which is required from all.

  • Social distancing where possible
  • Masks on launch and recovery
  • No changing of crews/cox during a rowing session
  • No stopping to socialize / turning around during the row
  • Wearing of masks / eye protection / face shields for coxes
  • Cleaning boat and equipment between rowing sessions and after use
  • Contact tracing in place (see Weekly Update 40 for QR codes / NHS tracing) this has been a requirement since the 20th September 2020 and continues to be.

The Government is now offering free rapid lateral flow tests to all household. This could compliment, but not replace your COVID secure protocols. Please visit the Government website as below.

Further information will be published in due course.

CLUB SAFETY OFFICER

Thanks to all those who have completed this task. If you have not, please do so asap. It is a CPGA requirement that all clubs appoint a safety officer.

The named person needs to have their details logged with the CPGA. Many over the recent year have changed, therefore please can ALL clubs complete the following. Safety Officer details

As you will have read in the COVID Update, a COVID officer is needed by clubs. Many will probably assign this task to the safety officer. Please make sure that they are aware of the potential task before assuming that they will take on this role.

Deadline for completion, prior to any regattas this season. Please don’t leave it until the last minute.

IOS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2022
